It’s difficult to live in Sacramento, be a part of the creative community and not know about Fig and Feathers Farm. When I first moved back, I saw her products featured at a local popup. I’ve even seen her products at multiple stores in town: Miel Apothecary and West Elm Sacramento!
Meghan Wright of Figs and Feathers Farm is as sweet as they come. She lives my dream of living on a farm with horses, plants like lavender she uses in her wonderful products. (Every city girl has this dream, right?) We share values in using natural well-made products. We also share starting out a second career after having harsh reality checks at our first careers.
Natural Small Batch Soapmaker
She started out making soap in her kitchen. It sounded similar to my other client Natalie, of Pepsoap.
Since then her creativity and product lines have expanded to various skincare products: facial cleanses, face and body oils, wildcrafted self-heal salve, cheek and lip tints, and more!
After we got to know each other, we started to chat about her vision for her brand. She has been doing her own social media images, which I think is great! She’s going through a rebranding process now with her labels, but the products would remain the same formulations.
She wanted a darker moodier look and feel. Something that still read natural that these were natural products and handcrafted. I showed her some accounts with the mood she described. We decided on doing a test shoot to ensure that we were both on the same page. She dropped off some unbranded products and I got to work.
When I received the box of goods, it felt like Christmas! I was excited to have so many things to play with and use! Truthfully, I was most excited about the healing salve because I’m rough with my hands. It did not disappoint and I’ve started using the salve as a multipurpose moisturizer to areas that need extra love.
After shooting and editing, I sent over some previews. Meghan was excited which made me extra excited. I really did love what was created, but you’re never 100% sure that the client will also love the images!
I’m glad that our collaboration was a success and she was thrilled with her images. I’m excited to see what happens with her business with her rebranding later this year!
